What are pronouns?

Pronouns are words that refer to ourselves or others (such as “me” “she/her” “they/them” etc.). Pronouns can be an important part of people’s gender identity and to use them correctly supports people to feel seen for who they are and respected.

In our culture we are used to prescribe people a gender and the belonging pronouns according to their appearance. For us it's important however to not assume about peoples pronouns and their identity based on how they look! (cuz gender expression and identity are two different things actually)

Some folks use the plural “they/them” to refer to them in singular.

example :

“They are really amazing”

“have you asked them?”

“its their pair of shoes.”
