Our beloved community car is called The Catmobile <3. For different reasons, such as sustainability, gas and car consumption and safety, we try to optimize the use of the car, which we use principally for community purposes (grocery, market…) and we ask every one to respect and be aware of it, trying not to use it for personal purposes. Here are the guide lines about it:

  1. Picking up people. We try to use public transport as much as possible. Always when you buy your ticket, do your best to plan the trip in a way that allows you to use public transport (not only for the long distance, but also for the short distances such as Sete-Poussan or Poussan-Montpellier). We can pick up people or drive them to a station only in “risk” cases: if you arrive/depart late in the night or really early in the morning and there are no buses, if your station is unreachable by public transports, or if you have to wait hours before the next bus connection. In these cases, if you need a drive let the community know three days beforehand, communicating it to the Balance circle (ex. Recruitment cat or Balance guardian), so that we can then discuss in the community and pick up as a community responsibility.
  2. Usage of catmobile for personal reasons: As a general rule, if you need a drive somewhere, the catmobile is used for community reasons on some days of the week and if you have something personal to do in the same place where the catmobile is going, you can join the trip so that you can reach the place (announce it in advance, so that you can organize it with the other people joining the drive). The specific days when this is happening are visible on the community board and are announced in the morning meetings. Exceptions: if you need a drive somewhere not planned as a community trip, this is possible only in “emergency cases”: for example if you need to go to the doctor and it’s not possible to reach it by public transports. In these cases, let the community know it at least 3 days of advance (if it’s not a sudden emergency), communicating it to the Balance circle (ex. Recruitment cat or Balance guardian), so that it can be discussed.
  3. The domain of the car is the Building Circle. Everyone who is a driver and is new in Catfarm, will receive a little training to use the car responsibly and sustainably. If anything happens to the car, if you are not sure about something or if you have to report something (for ex. a light not working) you can connect with the Building Guardian.
  4. Community activities on the weekend: In Catfarm we know how important are connection and fun moments and little adventures :) for this reason, the Catmobile is available for community activities (such as hikes, lake days...), only if at least 5 people are joining, to make it worth it and sustainable.
  5. In all the cases where the catmobile is used for personal purpose or for community activities in the week end, the community needs to be informed (in the morning meeting+in the onsite telegram group), so that every one knows that the car is not onsite that day at that time.
